Dear FBCS Parents & Stakeholders,

THANK YOU to those who attended the State of the School Address by FBCS School Board President, Matt Cochran.  Matt reported on the progress that First Baptist Christian School has made over the last three years including establishing a School Board, hiring a new Headmaster, creating the first official school budget, and completing new foundational handbooks for Personnel, School Board Policies and Parent-Student Policies.  Our big accomplishment was achieving ACCREDITATION through three important accrediting agencies by meeting the standards for SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), TEA (Texas Education Agency) through TEPSAC (Texas Private Schools Accrediting Commission) and ACTABS (Accrediting Commission of Texas Association of Baptist Schools).  Matt commented and congratulated the school's participation in the two significant fundraisers the school conducts each year in order to meet the operating budget of our school.

Matt shared some exciting plans for next year which includes adding 6th grade to the Elementary School, adding a Preschool Academy for those families who need only 3 days a week and shorter hours, and adding the Home School Elective Program for those special area classes that have extra seats in Computer, Spanish, Music/Drama, Art and P.E.  Matt reported that we have had a marketing blitz for our school this spring causing a lot of buzz around town.  We have added a billboard for 6 months (when going South on Hwy 281, it is on the left before getting to Hwy 71), a street banner (it was up in February across Hwy 281 at 12th Street and will be up again in May across Hwy 1431), radio ads on KBEY, newspaper ads in the Tribune, Picayune and Beacon, a permanent sign at Bluebonnet Cafe, and brochures in holders at the Chamber of Commerce, Public Library and Bluebonnet Cafe. Matt thanked the parents, church members and friends of the school for their donation of time and resources to make God's school even better!

Matt then answered questions and took suggestions and input from parents.  We are so proud of how God has blessed our CDC and Elementary School with these accomplishments through our wonderful parents, students, the church and friends of the school!!

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.  This is the scripture that we have relied on and God has blessed.....GOD IS GOOD!

God's blessings,

Dr. Sandra Phelps
